Join The Drawing School
Would you like to have an Art School drawing experience?
Come and join experienced artist and teacher, Jane Frederick for a four week drawing course which is designed to give you a flavour of the traditional Art School workshop in a warm and relaxed environment and help you to develop your confidence in drawing from observation.
Based in the beautiful, light art studios in The Minories Art Gallery, Jane will introduce you to many drawing and looking skills, help you to develop your mark making techniques, show you how to really look and understand what you are drawing as well as encouraging you to be ‘Bold, Loose and Accurate’ with your approach to drawing.
Each workshop will involv…e a new subject to discuss and draw and together and is suitable for complete beginners up to professional artists who may wish to develop their skills. All that is required is curiosity and a willingness to have a go and try something new! All participants will build a portfolio of works so if you are planning on applying for specialist art study in the future, this might be the course for you.
Week 1– Learning about structure, form and space: how to really look at your subject and interpret it through observational drawing techniques
Week 2- Understanding tone: exploring mass and weight through the study of light and shade
Week 3– Composition: experimenting with the picture plane and learning how to create dynamic compositions
Week 4- Expressive mark making: enjoy an experimental drawing day and push the boundaries with your drawing media and techniques
